Frank Discussion Of Sexual Topics In Last Paragraphs.

Well I was up early. No surprise there. Then I went back to bed and slept til maybe 7:45. Then I went about doing stuff I had been planning on doing since Wednesday

I started with changing the sheets, taking the old ones off, putting new ones on, laundering the dirty sheets. That job is no big deal. Then came the set of tasks I said I would do Wednesday, shirts, khakis, and neckties to the cleaners, trousers to be hemmed and cuffed, haircut, purchase salmon for tonight, gasoline for the tank.

Mrs Trinh is a sweet Vietnamese lady who runs an alterations shop near the Thrift Shop operated by the Little Sisters Of The Poor. I don’t know how her prices compare with the alteration shop run by the dry cleaners, but I don’t care. I figure she’s gone through enough crap in her life so she has earned and deserves whatever she charges.

“Be ready next Friday.”

“Thank you, Mrs Trinh.”

Over to the laundry for the clothes. When I’m set up to iron again, I will iron my own shirts and khakis, but for now, Puritan Laundry & Dry Cleaners can do them.

Next stop: haircut. I wanted it short. My stylist and I discuss length. She cut the sides short, for that sidewall look. Then cut the top short with scissors, so I would have something to work with. Was nice

BJ’s came next. I just bought salmon for tonight, and some produce, bananas and mushrooms. I bought my gas there, regular unleaded at $2.189/gal.

During this going about, I realized I forgot the videos due back at the library. Once they were returned, I came home for good put the old mattress cover in the wash, took the clean sheets from the dryer, folded them and put them away.

J came home. I took a nap.

Dinner was poached salmon, a chopped tomato, cucumber and hearts of palm salad in Ken’s Steakhouse Greek Salad Dressing. Nice dinner, fairly light because the heat is creeping back in. Fresh fruit for dessert.

Now I am tired. However Bendita Tentacion, the Mexican lingerie store is on YouTube where the women are modeling the World’s Trashiest Lingerie and showing off some sex toys like vibrators, that look cheap too. (Note to self: learn Spanish). But I love these uninhibited women, having a good old time talking dildoes .

Me with haircut. Smiling this time.

The Day.

#Shared Experience, Haircut

Here it is, Thursday night. I dropped the car off for an inspection. E., my regular mechanic, is on vacation in Lebanon, visiting family. So the other mechanic in the shop is doing work for two. But he did get it done today.

We went to meet with the financial advisor. We still have a little money. Leave it at that.

Between dropping the car off and the sit down with the financial guy, I got a haircut. 💇. It had been two months and two months of pool chemical infusion meant that what was passing for hair was actually a strange collagen abnormality that looked as nasty as it felt.

Then lunch. I had shrimp. They were pretty good.

A trip to BJ’s Wholesale Club came next where we purchased what seemed to be an insane amount of stuff, the BIG jug of detergent, the Ginormous bundle of bath tissue, the snack multipack, 3 liters of mouthwash. Somehow, we managed to spend $250+. The kicker is, we will use it. All of it.

The swim came tonight at 8:24. It would have been sooner, but I left my towel and bathing suit at home, necessitating a trip home to retrieve them. But it all worked out. I had my fastest time for the distance in the whole month. There is hope, pinched nerve and all.

J’s lunch is ready. I pitted some cherries, sliced a nectarine, so She gets some fruit variety from the usual strawberries, She has to be at the store at 4:30 AM. I wanted it set up so I don’t have to fix lunch at 3:00 AM.

We did a lot of stuff together today. It was basic stuff that people do in the course of living, not a European river cruise, or bungee jumping in New Zealand, or trekking in Nepal. You know it felt pretty good, intimate in its own way. Shared experience.

Birthday.

Haircut

OK. I turned 67 Sunday. We went to brunch at the Henry Clay Inn in Ashland. We had fun. Yesterday my new glasses came in. Today I got a haircut. I look different. I wish I could say more. Only I can’t.

Haircut, Physical Therapy

Here I go again, Physical Therapy. The doctor visit yesterday ended with a prescription for a course of prednisone and twice weekly sessions of PT for some residual, more or less constant, muscle

pain near the fusion site and some persistent tingling in my left arm which we think is related to some issues in the cervical vertabrae. Fun. Fun. Fun.

Later Today

I had my PT session. The goals for both issues is flexibility. We started off with a traction session on my neck. That was followed by some general stretching and flexibility exercises for the  legs.  Evidently lack of flexibility in the leg muscles puts extra strain on the back. Who knew?

Post PT, I got a haircut.  I got a “Spring” haircut because it’s down right warm here in Ole Virginny’.  Between sweat in my hair from walking and pool chemicals when I swim, I feel like my hair is a gunk reserve. So Karina, my barber,  gave me close to The Works.  I would fit right in at Camp Lejeune.

Topping off the day’s excursions was a trip to the supermarket, in this case Food Lion.  The “re-set” team was in this particular store today, resetting specific sections according to the monthly schedule. I saw a crew on frozen dinners, bottled water, and  bath soap, I believe.  This is of interest to me, because I spent several years doing this particularly nasty work in some grocery stores in rural Virginia; towns like Saluda, Kilmarnock, Bowling Green, Colonial Beach.  I left today with an enormous sense of gratitude about being retired.
