Today I renewed our membership at the Virginia Museum Of Fine Arts. And I stayed around to check some exhibitions, Renaissance and Mannerist Art, English Silver, and the Faberge Collection of Russian Easter Eggs.
To be fair, I spent very little time with the Faberge. I just noticed a stunning icon.

The English Silver is rather impressive. I was particularly taken with this casting.
After my brief foray into Culture, I went to Kuba Kuba, the original in The Fan. I had the codfish cake and eggs. The fish has a nice enchilada sauce with capers.
All in all, a nice sojourn.

In the Fan? What’s that?
The Fan District is an old, historic neighbourhood in Richmond, called that because five avenues spread from a park in a westerly direction, like an old-fashioned folding fan. At one point 50+ years ago, it was derelict and you could get a cool house cheap. Now it is fully gentrified, with very few exceptions. The houses are beautiful turn of The 20th Century row houses. It is near Virginia Commonwealth University, which has a highly regarded fine arts school

If you are serious or even semi-serious, check us out. I don’t know who does colonics, but I’ve seen some ads in the free alternative press. Elwood Thompson’s Natural Food Market has a lot of customers into alternative healing concepts. The winters aren’t bad Some snow most years. Some periods where the lows are in the teens. Occasionally single digits. Summers are Hot and Humid, like you wouldn’t believe., from mid-June through August. We are 2 hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains and 2 hours from the Atlantic, and 2 hours from Washington..
