Father Sunil was at the 5:00 Mass at St . Bridget’s Sunday to generate support for the Syro-Malabar Catholic parish that is growing here in Richmond. Briefly the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church acknowledges the authority of the Holy See (Pope, Bishop of Rome), but does not use the Latin Mass (Rite).
So after Mass, I introduce myself, and I ask him about cricket. He is a fan! Priests always surprise me when they don’t have their “game faces” on. He is a really nice guy. I have heard him say Daily Mass at The Abbey. I told him I would be there this morning. Now it is 0316. Mass is at 0700. I have been up about 30 minutes. I want to go back to bed. I have had only about three hours sleep.
Sometimes, when I awaken in the middle of the night, I feel the pain of the grieving, broken, brutalized world. I don’t have any solutions.
I will go back to bed soon.
I woke up with horrible anxiety at 2:00 this morning. I have to get up and move around to soothe the surges of adrenaline coursing through me. I remember an old commercial for a drug to help “Restless Leg Syndrome” (RLS) and I really don’t know that it’s the same thing, but sometimes I feel like I absolutely must move my legs. They’re almost “crawling” with bolts of energy. It’s never painful, just horribly annoying in the middle of the night. Anyway, insomnia sucks. Hope you got some more sleep!
I did. Got some sleep. Pretty sound. Made it to 7:00 AM Mass too.
And you are correct. Insomnia does suck. Sorry about the restless legs. There was a Seinfeld episode where Kramer’s girl friend had the “Jimmy Legs”.
I keep forgetting to ask how your foot is healing? Are you up on it some or back to normal?
David, sorry for asking here. I just didn’t want to forget again. 🙂
Much better, thanks.
Awesome news!!! ♥
Great news of my own. Work on the house begins tomorrow!!!! YAYYYY!!!!
Fantastic.
Thanks for asking! Doc told me it would be 6-8 weeks before I was healed, but I’m doing fantastic now! Been walking normally for several days now. I am still careful not to do anything too strenuous yet, but otherwise been great 😊
Fantastic!!! Love hearing this. ♥ Go lightly… don’t need Adam upset with you for a setback in healing. 😉 Great motivator, isn’t it?! *giggles*
I was recounting a story about my favorite priest to my husband the other day. He looked a bit like Father Mulcahey on M*A*S*H. Our parish, Saint Anthony’s, was right next door to the elementary school I attended. He’d come over to the playground during recess and lunch to keep an eye on the kids in the parish he knew were having trouble. I was one of them. Home wasn’t safe. He was a good man. I always looked forward to him coming over and playing with me with the friendly chatter. Sad that I hesitate to use the word “play” related to the relationship between a priest and child. Alas, tis the world we live in.
The world sadly, has changed
