I just heard a Congressmember state that in the Federal Government Fiscal Year ending on 30 September 2018, $500 Billion was spent on Interest on the National Debt, while the Federal Government spent $50 Billion on transportation in the same budget. Ten times as much.
This is the uncomfortable and inconvenient truth about the budget. Spending is more and more about paying interest on the debt. It will become worse as long as the Federal Government spends more than it collects in taxes.
Do you want to blame someone? We are the ones who expect the government to allocate money it doesn’t have to fund a plethora of programs people clamor for. Blame yourself.
Well. If philanthropy existed beyond church, state wouldn’t have to intervene. I don’t hear anyone wanting to bail out giant corporations who divert their tax load to offshore banking and shelters and yet we did.
Everyone always complains about spending. It’s cyclical. I do think it’s a bit out of control but I also believe the whole monetary system is bullshit to begin with. When the Vatican has it’s own printing press. When the Federal reserve is privately run. Who can say with all the glass and mirrors anymore?
I’m too tired to care frankly. I do what I can to help people. I do what I can to make a difference in this world. That’s all I can do from this little speck of dust. Bitching about things solves nothing. Really.
But….
I get why your mad.😉🤗
I get why you are mad too. The magnitude and complexity of the problem are themselves intimidating.
The sense of urgency wanes. More people are angry about Trump’s vulgarity or Pelosi’s machinations so that is what brings them to the polls. At one time there were debt and deficit “hawks” in both parties. Now, out and out economic ignoramuses grab national attention. Prosperity will be the engine that produces tax revenues. Spending restraint is the other side of the equation. Special interest groups will have to be told “NO”.
I wish!! The problem is definitely on both sides. Piggybacks, government spending is out of control. Money isn’t real to most of these people. These are just figures they get to play with like Monopoly. At the end of the day none of them probably really care. They get paid. Most already have personal wealth. Like they really care if the economy collapses. I honestly don’t think they give two craps. Any of them….just saying.
Some do. But yeah, you’re right. They don’t get the connection between large government debt and political instability
You give them all way too much credit. These people live and breath B.S. They know….they don’t care.
The Congressman I heard make that comment was from Eastern Kentucky. He has a degree from MIT, is an inventor, and he lives on a farm, off the grid. He made the remark at an event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the John Birch Society. This group is readily dismissed as an ultra-Right Wing fringe group, but his remarks were thoughtful and fact-based.He could have made the same comments in any number of mainstream media venues. I’ve been watching the news a long time. It has truly degenerated into managed stories, representing a bias of some sort. In other words, propaganda.
It always has been though is my point. I really don’t see a huge difference. Except now there’s a whole bunch more stories to choose from. You probably would have no better luck finding the truth.
Give me a link. I’d love to see what your talking about. I’m all for sense in this world. From ANY side. Lol
This lecture is posted as a new post
Ok. I’ll give it an honest try. I don’t do that well with visual. I’m more a script gal. Part of the gluten free movement; came through on a rider. No one knows. Shhhhhhh. Lol.
You give them way too much credit. They only care about themselves. Over 75% of the time they vote AGAINST their own constituants for lobbyist and special interest that pay them.
I think They know. They just don’t care.
Sorry for the double messages. The first one didn’t seem to go through so I started over and then decided to modify. Lol
Where is that picture from? Gorgeous. I want to make it my screensaver.
Where is that picture taken.
I took it at the Lewis Hunter Botanical Garden, here in Richmond. You are welcome to use it Let me see if I can send a link.
Ok. No rush. Not getting to it now. Now getting to sleep. Even Batgirl sleeps eventually. Lol
What was it she did anyway?
Batgirl?
Totally rhetorical. I just felt I had to say something clever. They can’t all be winners. 😝
I do the same stuff.
